Hello all.

First, I suppose I should introduce myself. My name is Matt, and while I’ve lurked around Lugnet for the past half-year or so, this is my first post. I normally hang out at the FBTB forums under my long-time internet handle ‘Pepa Quin’. I am a long-time Lego fan, and of course Star Wars as well. Most of my Lego creations in the past year have in the Star Wars theme (vehicles, ships, figs). My full brickshelf gallery can be seen here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?m=PepaQuin

I have just recently finished (or nearly finished - they’re never done...) my largest MOC ever. It’s taken me over a year to complete, and this version is actually the second attempt (the original was smaller and much less sturdy). My original goal was to create a Falcon which would be approximately scaled to minifig size. I created a cockpit which could comfortably seat four figs, and scaled the ship accordingly.

The gallery for the new Millenium Falcon can be found here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=129982

The Millenium Falcon is three feet long, 26 inches wide, and 8 inches tall (not counting the turret or sensor dish). It is roughly 30 lbs, perhaps a little less. I displayed this for the first time at the HoB convention in Shaumberg, IL, just a few weeks ago (some of you have probably seen pics from that already). I’m pleased to say that I was able to transport the ship in my car without any special packing - it just sat in the trunk throughout the bumby 30-minute ride, and arrived completely intact.

I would not say it’s completely ‘finished’. Some time from now, I will probably go over the hull and add all the needed greebly bits, and perhaps work on some of the coloration as well. However, as it stands now, I’m content with the size and shape of the ship and don’t plan on adding many more structural features.

I look foward to any comments and/or suggestions, and I hope I’ll be able to stick around Lugnet for real this time. :)

-Matt

(...) (3 URLs) (...) I've seen several Falcon MOC's, and I have to say that yours is my favorite. I love both the scale and the building technique. AWESOME WORK! David Gregory (19 years ago, 25-May-05, to lugnet.starwars, FTX)

(...) Matt, This was a pleasure to see in person. I really like the use of clear thinwalls on the medium blue plates for the engine. In the front, the recessed greeble areas are very nice. I noticed that the side hatches are not functional, was (...) (19 years ago, 25-May-05, to lugnet.starwars, FTX)

Holy Hyperdrive, Batman! Awesome super work, Matt! I haven't been able to go through all the pictures yet, but the one thing that stands out the most just from the first few pics is the "brickishness" of it all. A substantial absence of specialty (...) (19 years ago, 26-May-05, to lugnet.starwars)

Hi Matt, gratulations to a great moc! I really like the way you did the landing-gear. I think this was quite a difficult job, as there are not many pictures on the internet of this part. I got myself a modelkit of the Millenium Falcon just to find (...) (19 years ago, 27-May-05, to lugnet.starwars, FTX)
