Um, wow. That’s quite the difference. Should be interesting to see how far behind the LUGNET team the other teams are.

Yeah, I’m kind of wondering how well that will work. 10 AFOLs can build an ISD in about 1-2 hours, no problem. A non-Lego team? Who knows? The first AFOL build took 13 people 1 hour, 43 minutes, IIRC. Will a non-Lego team be done before the 3-hour mark hits (which is when the next round starts, I think)? If they practice, probably. If they don’t?

That’s a ton of ISDs and a lot of table space to boot.

I would guess that it’s still only going to be 8 teams, but I think 56 is the number of teams attempting to register, but on the “waiting list”? Or perhaps someone got confused and 56 was the number of people instead of # of teams.

If they had 56 teams... hmm... (doing math)... They’d need to allow for 8 teams all going at once, and that’s assuming 3-hour blocks for each time slot, no time for cleanup, etc. And that’s also for the duration of the entire show (which closes at midnight Friday and Saturday). So that would quadruple the amount of space they needed, assuming they wanted to stress the schedule with times so frequent and close together. And of course they’d need 110 ISD’s to build with. Wow. $33,000 worth of ISD’s. How awesome would that be?

That would be awe inspiring..

Even with 8 teams, that’s 14 ISD’s, which is still impressive. I wonder what they do with the completed brick? Give it to the team that built it, I guess?
Not sure on this one..

When we did our ISD build we used a bit less than 100 square feet of table space, plus some standing around room-- so they need roughly 200+ at the moment, and maybe 800+ if they had 56 teams? And that’s still assuming they’d jam them into the schedule like that. Probably would use more like 1200+ sq feet and have 12 teams able to compete at once, just for the sake of scheduling. Man, that’d be insane.

Here’s how they’re running it:

8 teams 10 people each.

2 Teams at a time competing

2 6’ Banquet tables per team

4 sessions Friday (The Indy AFOL Knights will begin at 7PM)

Time limit was not specified, but appears to be 2.5-3 hours.

3 Sessions On Saturday (2x Semi Finals and Finals)
