Re: Hailfire Droid -- Why Not a Technic Set?

(...) I had nothing to do today, so I made this list for conspiracy theorists to discuss: Set # Set Name Year TECHNIC (Y/N)? 4481 Hailfire Droid 2003 N 8000 Pit Droid 2000 Y 8001 Battle Droid 2000 Y 8002 Destroyer Droid 2000 Y 8007 C-3PO 2001 Y 8008 (...)   Re: Hailfire Droid -- Why Not a Technic Set?

My opinion is that when a set comes with 0 LEGO bricks, there's no question that it's a (very recent) TECHNIC set.* I'm looking at my own Hailfire Droid I just got for Christmas, and I just can't find any. It's all liftarms and axles. Come to think (...) (21 years ago, 29-Dec-03, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.starwars)

Re: Hailfire Droid -- Why Not a Technic Set?

(...) Actually, thats only partly true. Up thru model year 2001, there were several sets which had both TECHNIC and Star Wars on the box front. R2-D2 and the Destroyer Droid are two that come to mind. Also many of the 2001 Bionicle sets had TECHNIC (...) (21 years ago, 28-Dec-03, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.starwars)

Re: Hailfire Droid -- Why Not a Technic Set?

(...) Hailfire droid is made with technic parts, but they had to license the rights to make it from George Lucas, so they are required to label it Star Wars. LEGO does not use double labels. Many sets use technic parts, but are not labeled technic. (...) (21 years ago, 28-Dec-03, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.starwars)

(...) year 2001. Beginning with model year 2002, almost all sets were rebranded with things like "BIONICLE", "RACERS", "STAR WARS", etc. I have been told that there are a few higher-end sets still marked TECHNIC, but I have yet to see one. (...) snip (...) I agree - wot da heck IS that binocular doing there? OFF with the binocular! (Maybe they are special scanners for finding Rebel Blockade Runners...)   4502 X-Wing

I built the 4502 X-Wing a few days ago and have noticed a problem with the upper wing structure. The twisting arm device that opens the wings (nicely executed Lego!) keeps popping my top wings apart. The panel that the arm pushes against (the dark (...) (21 years ago, 23-Dec-03, to lugnet.starwars)
