Thanks much, Jeff! Why grey, you ask. Well, I try to model my SW MOCs
after the official miniatures and matte paintings of ILM as illustrated in
the popular book Industrial Light and Magic: The Art of Special Effects. If
you were to leaf through this book, you would find that the Imperial Shuttle
appears to be more grey than white...and quite dingy in some photos. As a
matter of fact, most ILM models appear to have the same shade of grey.
To back up what I'm babbling about, those who own the above book (I'm
confident there are some) can refer to page 43, 131, and 150. On page 43, a
young Lucas is standing amongst almost every miniature vehicle
imaginable...the shuttle, the Falcon, Blockade Runner, AT-ATs, Corellian
cruisers, etc.... They all look dirty and light grey. The remaining two
pages show actual matte paintings from the movies, again the shuttle appears
grey and dirty. Why TLC chose to model the Imperial Shuttle in white is
beyond me. Then again, I don't care, I didn't have a say in it - and I
bought several copies anyway. 7166 is also a GREAT brick pack.
Anyway.
Jeff by the way, AWESOME micro-corellian corvette! And I congratulate you
for being the first person (I think) to build, quite successfully, the ISD.
That must have been quite a project, nice job!
