Matt, thanks a ton for the kind words. In the case of the Falcon, I really
appreciate it, as it's been a long winding road for that ship (and it's
still on that road, as there's always something to be revamped). Believe it
or not the ship is 18 years old! I used to make SW customs when I was a kid
and first built the Falcon in 1984. Of course, it was a mosaic of colors and
I didn't have enough pieces to complete the rear third! It slowly evolved
and went through long periods of dormancy, but eventually the back was done
and I have continually replaced off-color parts with grey as I get 'em
(thank the maker I learned about Bricklink!)I will (hopefully) soon get
access to a scanner and share some ancient pics of the ship in it's earlier
stages.

As for shape and proportion, I'm glad you appreciate it since I am OBSESSIVE
about it! I won't even try something if I don't think I can get it close!
Honestly, the overall shape and proportion have remained relatively the same
since I first built it (I just love the Falcon like a child and have always
had it's image burned into my brain).

I really want to share some of the ship's inner secrets, but I have to
scram, so I'll be back with some more history and building hints (plus more
close-up pics) tomorrow!

Brian

ps I chickened out on trying an At-At on several occasions, and now Shaun
Sullivan and Dave Eaton have set the bar for that! If I could get the
pieces, I'd love to do it, but money is tight right now. And as for the
Shuttle, I just never took the brick approach for the middle wing. It would
certainly help the "smooth" factor! Actually, Bruce Lowell had some pics of
his shuttle in progress recently, with a brick center wing, and it looked
excellent, but I don't think he's finished it.

Great stuff, Brian!  Your Millenium Falcon is the best out there, in my
opinion.  The overall shape and proportion are perfect!  How long did it
take you to get that just right?  I've been toying with the idea of doing a
Falcon, but I wouldn't know where to begin.

Very nice Snowspeeders, too.  I'm impressed with how your Falcon and
speeders adhere so closely to the official ILM models.  Have you ever
attempted an AT-AT?  I used plates for the vertical wing of my Imperial
Shuttle (first version) as well, have you tried using bricks?

Thanks also for the managable pics!

(...) Thanks, Brian. I just found this post, so I'm just now replying: I never finished the Shuttle's wing in all grey; this is as far as I got: (URL) the finished cad wing: (URL) six more pictures of that (and a few other incomplete MOCs I've (...) (22 years ago, 29-Sep-02, to lugnet.starwars)
