Picked up the set today at Meijer in Kalamazoo.  Thanks to FBTB for the
info.  It's cool enough I suppose. I like the pieces.  The landing gears are
flimsy though.  I do really like the cockpit glass.  I'm at a crossroads
though with Lego.  On the one hand I really like their Star Wars line and
upcoming spiderman and "horror" movie sets.  They do their designs rather
well.  Can't bash them for that.  On the other hand more and more of the new
pieces are of considerably cheaper quality.  You can hardly tell the
difference between lego and the rip off companies anymore.  Why spend the
big bucks for cheap pieces?  I can buy junk from mega blocks or whatever
their name is...

Comments anyone?

Um, sure.  I agree the landing gear is flimsy.  The green in the back of the
set is ugly.  The front nose seems too flat.  The printing on the large curved
slopes and the 2x4 45 slopes makes them pretty much useless (unless your
motivated enough to brasso them).  Obi-Wan is a great minifig, the hair, the
torso, the head.  Wait a sec... The head has stupid microphone and eye piece
printing, making it useless in castle, and in any other situation where you
don't want the minifig on the comm.  The Dark Red color is neat, and getting
more of that is good.  Also the set has (at least from the top) a neat shape,
and seams semi-swoshable. Abiet, the wings fall off really easily.

Overall, I think we will see a lot of these come clearance time.

PS John, Have you thought about coming to a MichLUG meeting?  We are having one
this weekend in fact.  The webpage has the details.

Just got this one and built it. Here's one "problem" I haven't seen mentioned: Where's the rest of the R2 unit!?!?!?! What good is a head without the rest? That drops the whole "playability" of the set. Obi-Wan can't land somewhere and head off with (...) (22 years ago, 9-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)
