The rotating ball has a cross-shaped hole on one end of it. The technic
post or axle that protrudes from the shoulders. The post on the body goes
in the hole on the rotating ball. I didn't have any trouble with my vader
model, I hope you can figure yours out. Sorry about your trouble.

| Thanks, I ended up calling Lego Consumer Afairs and they were able to help me.
