The production models of the X-Wing had a spiral pattern painted on two
of the cannons, which would seem to be what the ribs are for.

| Well, I finally got my UCS Xwing and I can say its by far the best Lego set Ive ever seen (dont have the other UCS, so can't compare). Its 5 hours of building are the best building time Ive had. It really a great experience you cant understand if (...) (24 years ago, 21-Feb-01, to lugnet.starwars)
