Now I know you don't want to spring for a lot of money, but I highly, highly, recommend picking up a Snowspeeder. (...) is (...) My favorite small Star Wars sets are the Landspeeder, Flash Speeder and Desert Skiff. The Landspeeder hsa two good figs, lots of useful tan and macaroni bits. (...) The Flash Speeder is definitely a great, small set. Gives you a great feel for the "real" thing. And the pieces are great.
