Last, I really like that black stealth-type jet.  Nice sissor action on the
wings.  In truth, if that happened in real life, the wings would rip of the
fuselage when unfolding, BUT it was a very good way to combine two different
looks for the ship.  The forward position looks like a high speed/atmosphere
re-entery mode (if the ship can go into space) and the back position of the
wings looks like a low speed setting where you need more lift.  It would be
better if you moved the lifting body farther forward to better support the
ship's centr of gravity.  I still liked it very much overall, though.

Not necesarily true about the wings being ripped off.  Look at the cover of
this issue of Popular Science from November 2000:
http://www.popsci.com/magazine/this_month/toc_nov2000.html

In the article they stated how one of the aircraft contractors filed a
patent for it.  So apparently the aircraft companies are thinking seriously
about it (I don't think it would be especially difficult, take an X-29, add
the swinging wings from the F-14 and there you go).  Now leaving "Error
Handling" mode...

By the way Elliot, if you made that model to be like the airplane on the
front of PopSci then you did a really good job!  And the rest of your models
are great too!

<snip> (...) My oh my, will technology never cease to amaze me! I humbly stand corrected! If I had not seen to with my own eyes, I would have never believed it. And that thing will actually do that in mid-flight? Wow! :^) In that case, EXCELLENT (...) (23 years ago, 14-Jan-01, to lugnet.space)

(...) Hi Elliot! First off, WELL DONE! Some of your pics were fuzzy, but I'm have the same problem with my digital camera, so I really looked hard at the features. I think that with your collection you have done an A-1 job from the point of detail. (...) (23 years ago, 13-Jan-01, to lugnet.space)
