   Hi everyone,

it has been a while since i’ve posted something. sorry about that!

Here’s my latest: a first attempt at a pre classic space ship - also my first minifig scale capital ship.

This ship hasn’t gotten many comments, but there’s a lot to like about it, and a lot of techniques I feel could be built upon in the future, so I’ll critique it a bit.

The overall form of the ship is good, not too boxy, but I feel like it’s lines are broken up by greebling too indiscriminately. The greebling is often very good, but also often seems just tacked on. For example, the greebles just ahead of the engines and at the radar dishes look great, but many of the fins above the engines and extra bits on roofs seem incoherent.

Similarly, the different types of windows used in the rear half are a good way to stretch a collection, but don’t match very well. Perhaps that could be masked by using gray to outline all of the windows, too match the pre-fab portion.

The engines are clever, but I don’t much care for the color scheme.

The docking scheme is clever, but would be a good place for more functional details. I really like how the small craft echo the shape of the main ship, and the use of the scmitar (ugh, spelling) is very cool. I really like the yellow fighter (?) in general, but I think I would switched windshields between the two small craft.

The interior is spare, but well laid out, and the stairs are cool.

Anyway, these comments reflect a lot of my personal opinions on what looks good, but I hope they are interesting to you. It’s a nice first big ship, similar to my early large creations, which may be why I like to think about what parts are good for future use and what aren’t so good. Thanks for posting,

Kenn
