  New MOC: Chimera Escort Fighter

Heyhey! JHK's Firebird and Jamie Neufeld's Dragon inspired me. Presenting the Chimera: (URL) Some notes: -Jamie, that cockpit config is absolutely amazing. I tweaked it a bit. :-) -I also wanted to use at least one Znap piece in this moc. -Landing (...) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.announce.moc, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Chimera Escort Fighter

(...) Yet another Dragon inspiration (my Dragonfly is a descendent as well)! Very nice job Chris. The intakes a la Air Blazers work so well here and marry quite nicely to the crooked cockpit. For some reason, I almost feel the tail section could be (...) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Chimera Escort Fighter

(...) Oh my, very nice. I love the overall shape. Reminds me a lot of the Aliens Dropship... that's a good thing. :) Beautiful use of SNOT, and the control yoke is definitely something I'll be stealing soon. Well done. Love it. -Grand Admiral and (...) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Chimera Escort Fighter

(...) -snip- (...) Firstly, I gotta say this is a really nice MOC. The angled cockpit and air intakes are fabulous, and the small tail adds character to the whole craft. Well done Chris. Secondly, I have a bit of a problem envisioning this as a (...) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Chimera Escort Fighter

(...) Excellent fighter Chris! Love everything about it. I like doing a lot with small spaces. You fit into it this small craft a whole lot. I will probably be borrowing the concept for a Dropship & Retrieval escort fighter. Take care. (21 years ago, 25-Aug-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Chimera Escort Fighter

(...) Thanks G. That was the biggest pain of the whole thing - getting the angled cockpit to "look right" with the intakes and engines. That dk grey triple slope piece was my saving grace. :-) (...) Actually, I had it built and photographed and (...) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Chimera Escort Fighter

(...) Oh yeah. One of the coolest ships ever, IMO. (...) Have at it! (...) Thanks Mark! (URL) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Chimera Escort Fighter

(...) Thanks Mladen. (...) -snip- You're very right. You're quite a mind of all the technical stuff - I find it amazing that everything you have is very well captured by its role. Me, I just decided I didn't have an "escort" fighter yet, so I went (...) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Chimera Escort Fighter

(...) Thanks Dave. I look forward to seeing what you come up with. (URL) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Chimera Escort Fighter

(...) Hey- Nice job dude! Landing gear...cool. Canted cockpit...cool. Intakes...cool. The superb visibility from the cockpit would make this craft good for recon and observation, too. In fact, it reminds me a little of the old OV-10's Maybe add some (...) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Chimera Escort Fighter

(...) That's a very nice MOC. I really like the functionality you've packed into this small MOC, the little overdone flurgid container mechanism and the detatchable bot and joystick and all this stuff is really nice. Glad to see I'm actually giving (...) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Chimera Escort Fighter

C-Mad, I dig this moc, it looks like it would be fun to fly, which I guess is the best compliment I could give it. Things I liked: the intakes, the engines (no tires), the recessed kill-bot dispenser, the asymetrical guns on the nose, the tail, the (...) (21 years ago, 26-Aug-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Chimera Escort Fighter

(...) Thanks John. That was something I wanted to do with this one. I like it when something has form and function, so I wanted some moving parts. (...) Verily, verily. Hard not to see your recent stuff and get some ideas. (URL) (21 years ago, 26-Aug-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Chimera Escort Fighter

(...) Thanks Keith. The landing gear - I have to agree with you; I tried several different things and nothing looked as good folded up. So I scrimped on the beefiness to give it a sleeker look when they weren't in use. As for the flurgid juice, see: (...) (21 years ago, 26-Aug-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Chimera Escort Fighter

(...) Great form, really nice engines. Great cockpit too. Nicely done! Cheers, (URL) Sci-Fi LEGO> (21 years ago, 26-Aug-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Chimera Escort Fighter

(...) Thanks Fred. I actually tried to use the Jedi Starfighter canopy in a similar way, but gave up. That thing is the bane of my existance, I swear it. When are we going to see something else new from you, now that you're back and being active? I (...) (21 years ago, 26-Aug-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Chimera Escort Fighter

(...) Thanks a bunch Paul - that's a mighty hefty compliment coming from you. The engines and the cockpit area were what I spent the most time on, for sure. (URL) (21 years ago, 26-Aug-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Chimera Escort Fighter

(...) ://www.brickshelf.co...msig.gif>> A fighter that looks quite cool from various angles. The air intakes are awesome and I'm all about that claustrophobic cockpit and flight stick! The twin tail design is intriquing as well, perhaps it could be a (...)   Re: New MOC: Chimera Escort Fighter

(...) Thanks Ryan. You have no idea about that cockpit - getting that damned fig to even fit was a challenge I don't want to do again. I can't count how many times I redesigned it. As for the tail, I tried a few different things with that, but (...) (21 years ago, 26-Aug-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Chimera Escort Fighter

(...) Chris I'm glad I could be some inspiration to such an awesome ship! I saw this on Brickshelf yesterday and was just amazed by it. I still think you and Gil Shaw are the masters of the small Moc's. Nice tweaking on the cockpit. I like how you (...) (21 years ago, 26-Aug-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Chimera Escort Fighter

(...) As always chris.. this is the picture of simplistic beauty. So complicated, with so many details, all put together in such a way that make me think: "duh.. why couldn't I have done that?" awesome to flurgids, huh? hmm.. i dunno what to think (...)   Re: New MOC: Chimera Escort Fighter

(...) Dude, you rock. The Dragon cockpit, especially, is such a wonderful platform to work off of. Well done. And thanks for the compliments. Yep, those are castle windows. (URL) (21 years ago, 27-Aug-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Chimera Escort Fighter

(...) Thanks Lenny. I love it when I boggle minds. Or...something. :-) (...) Welp, Dr VonBeen's running low on assistants as it is, so I think we'll stick with this one. Can't have any more mishaps and shenanigans. And that's flurgids with a 'hard (...) (21 years ago, 27-Aug-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Chimera Escort Fighter

(...) Chris, I really like this shape. Every time I attempt it, it ends up abandoned. Now I can steal from you! I really dig the intakes, and especially the detatchable killbot - harkens back to the last days of Classic Space, when a bot was (...) (21 years ago, 27-Aug-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Chimera Escort Fighter

(...) Thanks Nick. I know what you mean - this is revision 700 or so. I never could get it to work just right. And hey, steal away! (...) Yeah, it's always nice to have some backup for your backup. :-) Actually I never considered CS when doing it - (...) (21 years ago, 27-Aug-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)
