  MOC: The Buzzard.

Yeehaw! That thar's a real barn-burner! Here's a real departure for me. I figured I'd stretch myself. I'm usually a real plate-monger, and this model is almost entirely bricks. I had sketched The Buzzard weeks ago, and failed to build it some three (...) (22 years ago, 14-Apr-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.announce.moc)

(...) I don't know if it's just me or my computer, but that link isn't working. Grrr. I'll try it at school in about an hour ... I really want to see it! Jeff Benson jbenso1@towson.edu (22 years ago, 14-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)

Poop. Yeah, Brinkster is pretty tempermental. Here's some deep links from Brickshelf: (URL) (22 years ago, 14-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)

(...) from the front/side, I like it a lot. Good building techniques. Building the wings in that orienation really allow some thin striping. -Jason +---...---+ Jason Spears MichLUG - (URL) MOCpage - (URL) (22 years ago, 14-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: The Buzzard.

Phil, That is one boss nasty lookin' ship! Kinda reminds me of the A10 Warthog. A really big gun (or guns) with wings stuck on it. Your all-brick approach beautifully conveys the necessary stockiness of the design. Really nice color scheme too. Dave (...) (22 years ago, 14-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)

(...) I like it. Very unusual, and the SNOT is excellent. With all that structure, I think some landing gear shouldn't be too difficult to add. ~Grand Admiral (22 years ago, 14-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: MOC: The Buzzard.

(...) Thanks for the suggestion. And you're right, there is plenty of space for that sort of thing. It's certainly something I'm considering putting in—it was getting late last night, and I was excited to get some photos. There's probably room for (...) (22 years ago, 14-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: MOC: The Buzzard.

That's a great shape and kudos on the keeping away from plates....I could see how that would be an easy out for this guy, but then you'd be hard pressed to do the colour piping! I dig the concept and think it's well on it's way, but if I were to (...) (22 years ago, 14-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: MOC: The Buzzard.

(...) Nifty craft! I too do not think you could have achieved the design with mainly plates. I like the overall shape and the rear-angled wings. I can definitely see the influence from WWII fighters. I really like the smoothness of the "plated" (...) (22 years ago, 14-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: MOC: The Buzzard.

(...) [...] (...) As has been said, great stripes - it's nice to take advantage of bricks over plates. I like the intakes and "snout" effect on the front. One minor thing I would like is for there to be some light grey detailing on the engines, all (...) (22 years ago, 15-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: MOC: The Buzzard.

Excellent suggestion, Paul. Thank you. I'll have to see what light grey detailing I can work into it. As far as making it a smaller fighter, I agree it would look like a real stuntster, Gil. I guess this is as best time as any to talk about my (...) (22 years ago, 15-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: MOC: The Buzzard.

Absolutely...point well taken. Paul Hartzog has brought this up before concerning engine/frame to pilot size ratio, noting that modern convential craft are very much oversized when compared some of the fighters of sci-fi. I think the other thing (...) (22 years ago, 15-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: MOC: The Buzzard.

(...) Okay, got it to work at school (and then didn't get a chance to reply and tell you what I thought of it)! I like the utilitarian look of the craft. I think the guns look fantastic -- I don't know if you did this on purpose, but it almost (...) (22 years ago, 16-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: MOC: The Buzzard.

very nicely done love the red stripes and the rounded shapes. the color separations is very well handled and the intakes also are cool lookin i particularly like the cokpit and the use of colors there contrasting w/ the white -paul (...) (22 years ago, 20-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)
