Here is my entry: The Ammonia Sea Scout.  I am entering it in category
9 (Ice Planet Insanity).

Shortly after establishing Ice Station Odyssey, the Ice Planet 2002
research team had a rocket go astray.  The rocket and it's cargo - an
expensive data collection satellite - were lost in the vast sea of ammonia
near the planet's North pole.
To retrieve their lost equipment, they had to procure a seafaring
vessel from the nearby Sunny Planet 2004.  "A sailing vessel??" you ask?  It's
all they could afford with their limited research budget!
With some spare hardware and a lot of ingenuity, the team made the
modifications necessary to allow the ship to survive the desperate cold of the
northern Ammonia Sea and perform the required retrieval operations.  Later,
the team added computers, radar, and other scientific equipment enabling the
Scout to perform exploration and more extensive research duties.

Here is the Brickshelf folder:

In this view of the deck, you can see a clutter of equipment, including the
robot sub that the crew has affectionately dubbed the "Ice Worm."

The engine room is a pleasant shelter from the cold.  It also contains spare
equipment, a bunk, and a computer terminal.

Here, a research assistant retrieves a satellite from the Ammonia Sea.

Here, she is deploying the sub.  Note the expression of quiet determination on
her face:

The radar arrays are perched on top of the masts.  The taller dish tracks
airborne rockets and satellites.  The rectangular dish is for surface tracking.

After a hard day's work, the research assistants like to blow off some steam:

The assistants look on as the director puts  the finishing touches on one of
his lovely ice sculptures:

(...) Using those big quarter domes as sails is genius! What a great use of that element. This ship is really cool (no pun intended). Great job. Adrian -- www.brickfrenzy.com (22 years ago, 9-Jun-02, to lugnet.space)

Fantastic!! A really piece of ingenuity...I would have never thought of the IP 2002/Pirate crossover. Very cool. Right on. Cheers, -G (...) (22 years ago, 9-Jun-02, to lugnet.space)
