Toradoch Systems Sol - Flare Clipper —Gil Shaw
Tired of plodding around the system in overpowered, clanging ion driven ships? Deutronium slush drives not giving you the thrill they used to? Screaming at your automaton co-pilot over the din of SRB's? At Toradoch Systems, we have the solution for (...) (23 years ago, 14-Apr-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Toradoch Systems Sol - Flare Clipper —John Henry Kruer
(...) WOW! I wish I had the talent and the bricks and the camera to make this! I like the 'ring' alot, as well as the half-cilendar cocpit. Wouldn't the pilot want to see, though? In theory, the ship wouldn't go intersteller, though- probablly not (...) (23 years ago, 15-Apr-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Toradoch Systems Sol - Flare Clipper —Gil Shaw
Many thanks John! My 'retro-theorizing' on the cockpit is that a holographic display the starfield would be projected up on the interior dome of the rudderpod. As the clipper builds up speed by running courses towards the sun, the solid shielding is (...) (23 years ago, 15-Apr-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Toradoch Systems Sol - Flare Clipper —Gil Shaw
Apologies for responding to my own post, but I just wanted to give a tip of the hat to Jon Palmer and his O-wing Fighter design for the inspiration of this model. Yet another benevolent felony on my part...... Cheers, -G (...) (23 years ago, 15-Apr-02, to lugnet.space)

RE: Toradoch Systems Sol - Flare Clipper —Bram Lambrecht
(...) Gil, your design is very similar to what I was picturing when I was talking to Jon about what his O-Wing would look like. There's even a 16 panel click hinge cylinder sitting on my desk somewhere waiting to be developed further. So needless to (...) (23 years ago, 16-Apr-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Toradoch Systems Sol - Flare Clipper —Gil Shaw
(...) Thanks kindly Bram....and thank the designer of the click-hinge! Look forward to seeing the cylinder's evolution... Cheers, -G (23 years ago, 16-Apr-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Toradoch Systems Sol - Flare Clipper —Mike Petrucelli
[snip] (...) That is one awesome looking unorthodox design. It must have been fun balancing it. -Mike Petrucelli (23 years ago, 17-Apr-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Toradoch Systems Sol - Flare Clipper —Gil Shaw
(...) Thanks Mike...it did take a couple rebuilds before it worked itself out. Sometimes the brick really, really doesn't want you to think in 4 directions! Cheers, -G (23 years ago, 17-Apr-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Toradoch Systems Sol - Flare Clipper —Jon Palmer
Hey Gil. I've been here and there for a bit but I figure its not too late to reply on this. Interesting ship. While I don't like this as much as some of your other recent creations, it's still a very cool ship. The over all shape is very unique. (...) (23 years ago, 19-Apr-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Toradoch Systems Sol - Flare Clipper —Gil Shaw
Hey Jon, Many thanks for the kudos! I would have to agree that it is not my favorite ship aesthetically, but for some reason it's really grown on me. There is something about it's simplicity that is nostaligic for me....recalls the days of watching (...) (23 years ago, 19-Apr-02, to lugnet.space)
