Joe,
I really like your Canary (and your previously posted Shrike)

Thanks for the compliment!

Both are futuristic but seem "possible" and the Canary almost seems like it
could be official extension to the Alpha Team theme.

I'm very happy with the Canary, mainly because I was afraid the yellow would
not work out as well as it did. And as for the Alpha Team extension, thanks!
I like the premise of Alpha Team and have bought quite a few of the sets. I
think it fits in too, now that you mention it:)

(the yellow/black color combo worked so well for me that I did a number of
theme extensions for Res-Q a while back)

I took a look at your photos and I'm pretty impressed. I got back into Lego
right after Res-Q and thought the theme was pretty cool. (Got a couple of
old sets on ebay, in fact) And the colors are really nice to work with,
except if you do stripes, you end up with a bee:)

I dunno what you could use for a more menacing name, most of the yellow
birds of North America a perching songbirds.

Finch? Nah....

The Golden Eagle's scientific name is Aquila chrysaetos which doesn't lend
itself to well to an aircraft. The Secretary bird (Sagittarius serpentarius)
of Africa is a raptor that sometimes has a yellow head. (not yellow but cool
names: Goshawk, Kestrel...)

Good points there, but  the Canary really isn't that threatening of a plane.
Eagles and birds of prey are for fighters and attack craft. And I do want to
make one of those besides the Shrike. This plane is in the neighborhood of a
SR-71-too fast to be messed with, and it watches...so maybe Owl, or
Peregrine..hm I like Peregrine a lot.

What did you use to make the QTVR files. They are an awesome way of
showcasing an MOC, I only wish you were able to post a file twice the image
size to see more detail (which I'm guessing would probably be 4x the file
size?)

I used a copy of QuickTime Authoring Studio. Turns out Lego models are
perfect to do this type of file. If you want to do this, check online for
Virtus Toolbox and the above program. QTAS might also be found at ebay.

As for your request for a larger file, give me a couple of days...I'll be
working on it!:)

Thanks for your compliments!

Joe

(...) Anyway, Canary is a good name for reconnaisance. In the old coal mines they used to use canaries to detect a lack of oxygen. (If the canary stopped singing, get the hell out of there.) One could generalize the idea of a canary being a way of (...) (22 years ago, 5-Mar-02, to lugnet.space)
