Well, not *very* important, perhaps (no need to hurry), but it'd be
useful. I haven't done very much FORTH programming since the 80's, and I
even then I wasn't exactly a pro FORTHer. Also, I was used to F-PC
(and/or TCOM), and my FORTH programming habits depend on WORD and SEE :)

That'd be great. And yes, of course I can wait. Thanks a lot.

I'm quite confortable with the BricxCC / pbForth combo, and once BricxCC
supports Xmodem, it'll be even better. But it sure would be nice to have
the GUI working on my set up too.

I think most required info is already there, but not very easy to
find/understand for someone not very versed in FORTH. I took a while to
remember that, in FORTH environments, the "firmware" (so to speak) and
the language/compiler are all one and the same, and that sometimes
making an error does not just crash a "program", but the whole system
(try doing -1 ROLL as I did just today :). So I think a good tutorial
would be to show how you load the firmware/FORTH system, how to reset it,
(I was used to FORGET and had to search for MARKER to know how to reset
the dictionary), how to extend it, why the screen is blank after a
restart and what to do about it (it's very confusing to reset the brick
and see nothing on the LCD), and also a "gentle introducing to
monitoring" (the scripts are very interesting, BTW). The release notes
for 2.0.0 say that there's no multitasking now, but "cooperative
multitasking is easy to implement in FORTH". Well, not that easy for
beginners :)
But, as I've said, most of that info is already present, only in bits
and pieces here and there.
Thanks,

| Good questions Juanma! If WORDS is very important for you, I can write up a quick tutorial on how to do that. I'm pretty sure all of the CORE or REQUIRED ANS Forth words are supported. I'll need to update my build script to output a list of the (...) (21 years ago, 16-Jan-04, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.pbforth)
