I believe you... :-( My wife and I were surprised to find the Mindstorms
Mall Tour in our local mall in Ocean County, New Jersey over the weekend. I
was very impressed with the blue and red wall climbing robots, but then I
saw that several of the pieces had been broken or cut to make the robot work
properly. At least two areas with modified parts were the "hooks" that the
robot was using to climb the wall with were broken pieces... Let's see, I
think they were:
"32249 Technic Liftarm 3 x 3 L Shape with Quarter Circle" from Partsref
With one of the straights clipped off so that the curve was used as the
"fingers" that the climber used to hold on to the wall.
There were also some other bricks modified to press into the touch sensors
on the blue robot. There may have been more, but I stopped looking at that
point.
Don't get me wrong, the robots were *still* impressive, but I was
disappointed that they couldn't stay within their own system to build them.

| (...) I saw this bar-tender in Frankfurt at the visioncommand 2000 competition. They are obviously running a serial protocol on their 17 RCX ! (One RCX and the IR-Tower were under the desk in a box.) Why don't they offer tese protocol to the lugnet (...) (24 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)
