It is commonly believed that the RCX contains a full rectifier, so if you
supplied AC, that would work, but more importantly, if you supplied either
polarity of DC, that would work also. The conversion to AC also requires a
sufficiently large capacitance, and if you take a peek into your RCX (or
mine, at http://graphics.stanford.edu/~kekoa/rcx/), you will find that the
RCX contains enough capacitors to safely power the entire state of New York
well into Y2K. The general consensus is that the label on the input is
truly correct. It reads as you interpreted it.

Yes.

They do not work okay, they work more than okay. That is, unless you want
to build the Torbot. Standard disclaimer applies though. Do not blame me
if you break something by listening to my meaningless ramblings about what
may or may not be inside your RCX.

| Kekoa, Many Thanks for your tireless digging. I have seen a lot of very interesting stuff you have unearthed. I think that more is often learned about Engineering by 'Reverse Engineering' than 'forward'! Years ago I used to get tons of old IBM (...) (25 years ago, 12-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)
