I've had a report that fast firmware downloading doesn't work with the latest
release of BricxCC (either tower). In my tests, with an RCX 1.0 brick plugged
in, low ambient light, short distances from the USB tower, and all the firmwares
I have access to I am able to download in fast mode just fine. In several
attempts today I did experience 2 failures, but the vast majority of attempts
worked correctly. My serial tower is currently unavailable to test with, but in
testing a couple weeks ago it also was working fine with my 1.0 brick with it
plugged in. Can anyone tell me whether they are able to use fast firmware
download with either the USB or serial tower with the latest release of BricxCC?
I'd especially like to hear from RCX 2.0 brick owners. I don't own an RCX 2.0
brick so I haven't ever tried to download in fast mode to that brick.
Thanks in advance,
John Hansen

| Hello John, Worked fine for me, with the following setup: RCX2.0, USB tower, BricxCC 3.3.7.6, firm0328.lgo, Win2000. Distance between tower and brick: 20 cm. Download time: 1'25" I tried also 50 cm away (worked) and 1 m away (failed). Philo (21 years ago, 3-Nov-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)
