Do those two boards (Hboard and I/F) have differing requirements of the
transformer charge plugs, as the schematics indicate? I have so many
wall-warts around, DC and AC, but they all have the return line on the
outside. Perhaps it doesn't matter, I don't have the schematic in front
of me here.

Great idea, I went and tried that. Alas, no. I downloaded the pcode
config0C.s19, got nominal responses, yet LCD's still all bars after
resetting board, and IC then cannot synchronize. Actually, LCD is bars on
the top row all the time now. Odd that the pcode downloader works, but IC
cannot synchronize. A brief examination of the board showed no burnt
areas or obvious damage. Right before it died, I noticed the regulator by
the polyswitch fuse was quite warm, which I don't believe it did before.
The motor driver circuits are unused. Any thoughts? TIA.
