You could try opening up any personal cassette player. I have used
several of these. They have a rubber wheel (capstan head, pinch wheel I
don't know what their proper name is) on a very convenient metal
bracket. Most of the ones I have seen have a hole in the bracket in
exactly the right place for you to mount it as a castor. The only real
disadvantage is that the offset between the swivel and the point of
contact on the ground will be quite large so you may get balance
problems if you don't get it positioned/balanced correctly.
