I just realized that getting 1200 milliamps running two motors
bi-directionally is equivalent to running four motors
uni-directionally at 2400 from a total power dissipation standpoint.
I.e., there are still 600 milliamps running through each driver.


You mean running FOUR motors uni-directionally from ONE L293D chip, right?
...and TWO motors bi-directionally from ONE L293D chip?
