Regarding sensing flame/arc...Eltec Instruments make pyroelectric
detectors to detect flames and arcs emanating from arc welding
etc..
Basically the detector has an filter which does not pass any light
] beyond the wavelength of 4 micrometers (which is in the range when
emitted by a hydrocarbon flame). A frequency discriminating circuit
coupled with the filter is sufficient to detect flames.
The frequency circuit is to detect the "FLAME FLICKER" which refers
to the sinusoidal change in flame energy emitted at a particular
freqquency (4 - 18 Hz).
I havent worked with these sensors and dont plan to....just wanted to
share this info for all the flame chasers .......
to contact eltec.. try 1800 874 7780 (phone)
Thanks
Sriram
