You could use the effect of gravity force and a potentiometer (variable resistant) to create such thing. In fact if you use a joystick mechanism (or quadraphonic double-potentiometer volume control in the old day) in upside down position and have a (...) Don't know if home brew is OK for your needs but I found a little while back, a website that had several different homebrew sensors described and a single axis inclinometer was one. try using +robot +inclinometer in the Altavista search engine. Here's a bit of code that will buffer incoming serial information so that no information will be lost when transmitting to the handy board. There are two files: serial_isr.c and serial_isr.asm.
