My problem turned out to be with Win 95. If I boot to DOS the PCBUG11 program works fine. It fails to work when working from a DOS window. I can now communicate with the MCU so my RS232 must be fine. When working from the command line in PCBUG, I (...) (28 years ago, 2-May-98, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

I used a Max202 in place of the Max232. I installed it with the 10uF caps. Since the 202 can be used with .1 and I already installed the 10uF ones. I decided to switch it for a 232. The 202 checked out (V wise) like the installation instructruction (...) (28 years ago, 1-May-98, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Try to look up MicroSim ...or something like that name. It has a crippled evaluation package that may suit your needs.
