  RE: JAVA

The IC package is quite impressive. What's the expectation of a JAVA-like language? --Jerry (28 years ago, 19-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  RE: JAVA and the handyboard

I found my info on the Bali paper: Title: The BALI Development Environment for Small Mobile Robots Author: Willie Lim, Future Minds, Inc., William Y-P. Lim, wlim@ai.mit.edu Pages: 11 Presented: Mobile Robots X Conference (SPIE Conference 2591) in (...) (28 years ago, 19-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Kind of in a jam... Have heard conflicting advise (thaks again to everybody who bothered to give it)...My design group wants to come to a decision about powering our two Polaroid Ultrasonic tranducers.... * One set of opinions has advised that we (...)   Re: Newcomer

(...) The E variant can handle 4 IC lines and 4 OC lines, while the A must do 3 IC lines and 5 OC lines. The IC and OC lines are the way the processor handles timer-sensitive signals, such as RC signals. The Handyboard can handle up to 2 ICs and 2 (...)   Re: Handy Board Crash

(...) Re-load pcode_hb.s19. If the board loses its operating program, when it starts up it runs gibberish, and the value of the motor output latch is randomized. -Fred (28 years ago, 19-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

(...) either. some people like the e1 better because it has more flexible timer and counter lines. but the a1 has a simpler bootstrap sequence and is less likely to have compatibility problems with the host computer.   Newcomer

Hello: First - thanks for all the good information that we were able to find on the handyboard web page and on the associated ftp site. My son and I have decided that we would like to build the handyboard rather than buy one ready-built. We have no (...) (28 years ago, 19-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

(...) I'm assuming you mean the motor LED's and that they stay on and nothing shows up on the LCD. Sounds like you didn't disconnect the battery and accidently shorted it. Probably lost the contents of the RAM. Try reloading the Pcode. hope it works (...) (28 years ago, 19-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Handy Board Crash

Hi, I was installing another user knob beacuse the other one broke. While I was in the middle of doing it, I think I fried the board. When I start up I have an led sequence like this: green green green red does anyone know what this means, if so (...) (28 years ago, 19-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  RE: JAVA and the handyboard

Found this about Bali after doing a web search: (URL) contains an abstract about a paper presented at an SPIE related conference. It seems to refer to using JAVA and extensions called BALI to provide a development environment for boards like the (...) (28 years ago, 18-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
