Re: Problems with RCX Robolab and PowerMacs 6400/200 and 5500/225

I believe Fred Martin ran into similar problems and the serial extension did indeed help. I think his write-up of the issue is somewhere on his site: (URL) Baum (...) (26 years ago, 3-Jan-00, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.edu, lugnet.robotics.rcx.robolab, lugnet.edu, lugnet.robotics.rcx)

I had a similar problem and suggested used the three cable method you mentioned with great success. Before I tried this I sent an inquiry to Dacta and got this response "There is an issue with some Macintosh serial ports that we are currently (...)   Educators: Vote for RCX and ROBOLAB over iBook!

Go to (URL) click on the voting page. Robolab is up against School master, Site Central, and Virtual Language Lab, while the hardware is up against the iBook. You can only vote if you are an education professional and are familar with these (...) (26 years ago, 29-Nov-99, to lugnet.edu, lugnet.robotics.edu, lugnet.robotics.rcx.robolab)

  Re: Teaching robotics

(...) I have been teaching lego robotics for the last year. I started last year teaching 3rd - 5th graders after school. This year I'm teaching a group of home-schooled middle schoolers during the day and I started a group at my son's elementary (...)   Re: Teaching robotics

(...) I've been thinking about doing exactly the same thing at my daughter's school (she is in 3rd grade). I was planning to follow some of the curriculum guides from Pitsco Lego-Dacta ((2 URLs) and follow the Robolab links to get to the curriculum (...)   RE: Problems with RCX Robolab and PowerMacs 6400/200 and 5500/225

Paul, I've snipped all of the text about how RoboLab and the Mac might not play nicely together. I have had great results with my own system at my office, and then when I did the tutorial at MIT, things failed miserably. I turned off the large (...)   Re: Problems with RCX Robolab and PowerMacs 6400/200 and 5500/225

You could try using NQC (or MacNQC) and see if it works any better. I know in the long run you want to get Robolab working, but testing MacNQC would at least separate a Robolab-only problem from more general problems (serial port problems, cables, (...) I'm a user, not engineer, but.. you might want to try this if you haven't already. I had the same difficulty and went through all the toubleshooting methods you have. This is going to sound silly, but has worked for me: With the IR tower on low (...) (26 years ago, 20-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.edu, lugnet.robotics.rcx.robolab, lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Problems with RCX Robolab and PowerMacs 6400/200 and 5500/225

Hello, I'm teaching an RCX-based programming class using the Robolab software to a group of 19 4th,5th and 6th graders. I've been trying to get the Robolab software installed and running on the Powermac 5500/225s and 6400/200s owned by the school. (...)   Re: Decision - Robolab 4 pak vs 4 RIS packages!

If you are doing Robotics as a long-term project, go with one Team Challenge set for every 3 or 4 students. The ROBOLAB "Team Challenge" Set is the exact same set as the RIS 1.0, except that it comes in a nice plastic green tub with good storage on (...) (26 years ago, 18-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.edu)
