Bob,  Welcome to the Robotics Invention System and the RCX. I know you and your son
will have an excellent time with it.  Sorry that you are missing the holiday with
your family, but what a fantastic project you are working on.

There is a program with NASA and Lego called "First Lego League" that you might try
surfing the web for.  It is aimed at just that age and provides a creative learning
environment for school teams and there are regional and national competitions.  You
should be able to find info at NASA and at the Lego Mindstorms site.

Good luck and congratulations with the HTS.  Looks like a big success.

My son is receiving a RCX set for Xmas. I'm stuck in Houston supporting the HTS
servicing mission and can't wait to get back to "help" him play with his new
toy.  I learned a lot from this bulletin board.  Its great support for what I'm
hoping is a great product.

P.S. He just turned 13 and he has been a Lego mainiac since a bought him a DUPLO
rattle when he was born.  I'm hoping the RCX will rekindle my interest in Legos,
which has diminished in the last years.  The new theme sets introduced in the
last few years  have failed to spark my interest.

I'm planning to develop a program to work with the local middle school.  Does
any one have any experience or ideas.

Thanks, I appreciate the HST recognition. We often wonder if anyone is interested. They have an interesting web site @ (URL) (25 years ago, 26-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)
