Perhaps I should add Apple Event support to MacNQC - it wouldn't be too
difficult.  On the other hand, it may be more appropriate to build a
smaller stand-alone app that serves as a bridge between Apple Events and
RCX communication.

  You have a point.  A simple RCX interface that just keeps the IR tower alive
and really only needs the functionality of the IR remote control, perhaps with
motor power variability would be perfect.  The ability to kick off each of the
programs from the console is really all that is needed.
