8446 (the green monster) isn't very fit to be RCX controlled, (but technic
pieces are useful anyhow). It's a strange but clever model in itself. A
selfcontained 'pneumatic' plunge is used to push up the front cabin,
triggered by a mechanical lever. Hand force pushes it back down. The crane
arm is controlled mechanically by turning knobs. The spring on the arm
serves only to apply grip power to the claw when it is in closed position.
This way you can grab objects and they will remain fixed.

8443 (the red gripper) is a very well done model, with genuine pneumatic
control and a brilliant steering mechanism: it combines rack & pinion
steering with a bending body.

This looks like a neat model for gears and wheels, but the gripper looks like a (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)
