The Zany Brainy in Glendale has about 30 of the Space Shuttle sets still - I
also was *very* tempted to buy many (if only money could be made of Lego
bricks).  In addition, they showed me next week's ad that had throwbots on
sale 2 for $10 (still not a great per-piece price, but I'm sure I'll
eventually figure out a use for my 30 throwbot belt hung carrying boxes - if
only they had some Lego bumps or axle interface points on them).

Thanks Alan (and Dave Madden)!  I've been drooling over this set for quite
some time but I could never get around the $150 price tag.  So, I just ran
over to the Torrance CA store (at Hawthorne and Sepulveda for you local
folks) and grabbed one for $75.  I was *very* tempted to buy them all and
make a buisness out of auctioning them off in a year or two but instead I
decided to make this post...

I talked briefly to a (or the?) manager at the store and she said that they
tried to get them last year but couldn't (or only got very few) and it
sounded like this year they got more than they knew what to do with.  There
were a minimum of eight sets remaining (in two different locations) when I
left a noon.  That was as many as I could positively ID, it looked like
there could have been that many more further back on the shelves.  They also
had the RIS, RDS, DDK, and expansion sets but all at full price.

For any of you non-technic lego fans they had a few interesting looking
large sets on sale for 50% off as well.

Thanks again.

JT

For all of you who are looking for spare parts, the generally
thought of
BEST lego set for additional technic parts (as well as a
REALLY cool set) is
8480 (the Technic Space Shuttle)

ZanyBrainy has that on sale from Dec 5 to the 11th for 50%
off!!!  That
means you can get the set for $75!

I bought a new one on auction for about 155 less than a year
ago!  Before
Lego *found* some additional ones.  And it was worth it for
that price!

My local ZanyBrainy had at least 10 sets left today!  Hurry
in and get them
while they are there!!!

P.S.  No, I don't work for ZanyBrainy.
P.P.S.  I just checked and they don't have these on their
Internet site.

I ordered the RIS 1.0 a few months, and I was wondering how one gets the upgrade for free. Thanks (25 years ago, 10-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)
