  How long is a chain?

Hi, Lego Dacta #779937 contains 108 chain links. How long is the resulting chain? I'm trying to figure how many packages I'll have to order... Thanks, Stefan (25 years ago, 2-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)

The gear rack has 10 teeth and is 4 studs long. Five chain links will cover it. So 108 chain links would equal 86.4 studs. (...) (25 years ago, 2-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: How long is a chain?

Here's the length I came up with. I measured from axle to axle, which should give you working length, instead of end of chain, which is a little too long. And I don't have an LU rule long enough to measure 108 links. :) links | LU | cm | inches (...) (25 years ago, 2-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Chains where? (was: Re: How long is a chain?)

(...) Ummm... 2 questions: 1. Is there an available picture of this set anywhere? I couldn't find it in the pause guide or on brickshelf... 2. What kind of chain links are they? They're not... (...) Yes, these are Dacta item #N779937 Small Chain Links - $6.25 for 108 links. But I believe you are looking for item #N77938 Conveyor Belt Links - $6.25 for 36 links. -Wes (25 years ago, 2-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: How long is a chain? - Thanks

Thanks to everyone who responded to my chain length question. Of course I could have thought of the relation to gear diameter... Thanks, Stefan (25 years ago, 3-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)
