First suggestion: don't use 0.1.7, use 990330. Or better yet, 0.2.2,
though many people are still having problems with that, and there is no
documentation yet (that is the sound of my professors screaming in the
background. Sorry.) Using 990330 will spare you all the patching issues,
and since you've already built the cross-compiler, 990330 will prove a
small download.
As far as patch goes, thank goodness you are using Debian :) There is a
package called "patch," which should already be on your system. If not,
it's only about 70K- get it from
ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/dists/stable/main/binary-m68k/utils/patch_2.5-2.deb
and then install it. To use, get the patches (most are at
http://metalab.unc.edu/lou/legos/0.1.7/ ). Open them with an editor (or
just type "less patchname.diff") and note the top line, which shows the
command used to create them (diff) and then the full name of the file
being patched (in the case of, for example, the motor-speed patch, this
is ../legOS-0.1.7/direct-motor.c). Copy the patch to that directory, and
then type "patch -i _patchname_." The rest should take care of itself.
Hmm. About the Makefile/Makefile.common issues- they shouldn't have any
windows-style indents, I don't believe. And you can't get rid of them-
you'll have to fix them, as they are called to find the rules for
building the binaries and therefore must be used.
Anyway, hope that helps- you've certainly come to the right place-
Luis (who is thoroughly amused by the thought of someone "RTFM"ing his
manual...)

| I am hitting a snag during the final stage of installation of LegOS onto my Debian Linux ( m68k ) system. I have successfully installed binutils-2.9.1.0.19a and egcs-1.1.2 . At least I think that they are correctly installed. I ran these (...) (25 years ago, 16-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics)
