I am hitting a snag during the final stage of installation of LegOS onto my
Debian Linux ( m68k ) system.
I have successfully installed binutils-2.9.1.0.19a and egcs-1.1.2 . At
least I think that they are correctly installed.
I ran these installations per the 'tool setup' page at www.noga.de/legOS,
which means that I have the following paths to the various tools:
/usr/local/bin/h8300-hitachi-hms-ar,as,gcc,g++... all the chip specific tools
/usr/local/h8300-hitachi-hms/bin/ar,as,gcc... another set of tools
/usr/local/h8300-hitachi-hms/include
/usr/local/h8300-hitachi-hms/lib
and finally
/legOS/legOS-0.1.7/*.. all of the items from the downloaded package.
Makefile.common line 8 reads:
TOOLPREFIX=/usr/local/bin/h8300-hitachi-hms-
and line 11 reads:
LEGOS_ROOT=/legOS/legOS-0.1.7/
Makefile line 8 reads:
TARGET=/legOS/legOS-0.1.7/demo/first-c++
Running make generates the following error:
make: *** No rule to make target '/legOS/legOS-0.1.7/demo/first-c++.coff' ,
needed by '/legOS/legOS-0.1.7/first-c++.srec'. Stop .
I did have to edit out both the Makefile.common and Makefile as they each
had DOS style embedded CarriageReturns which caused untold grief initially.
Once that had been cleared up, the above error sprang forth. Any ideas
where I am going wrong?
Question 2: After my install, I found the page at arthurdent.dorm.duke.edu
on the HowTo . I then RTFM and where I didn't change anything, I got a
better understanding of what's supposed to happen, but the document did
generate one real question, it reads: "All ( patches ) should be applied,
except the direct-motor patch. See the motor section for discussion of that
patch. Apply the others with the "patch" command. Um.... where do I find
the 'patch' command?
Thanks in advance.
Al

| First suggestion: don't use 0.1.7, use 990330. Or better yet, 0.2.2, though many people are still having problems with that, and there is no documentation yet (that is the sound of my professors screaming in the background. Sorry.) Using 990330 will (...) (25 years ago, 16-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics)
