Hey, Just wondered if anyone had seen Microsoft's newest IntelliMouse and, if so, if they had the same thought I did about it: this thing cries out to be hacked. It uses a 'tiny CMOS digital camera' to see whatever surface is beneath it and measure (...) (25 years ago, 25-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Huh, interesting. That would be cool. I'm realllly skeptical though -- I've seen older optical mice, and it's not just the required special mouse pad that is annoying -- they just plain don't work very well. And according to the CNN article, (...) (25 years ago, 25-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

I've just got the IntelliMouse Explorer. I had problems at first on my Simpson's mouse mat, but then I tried it straight onto the desk top. It's very good and I have no problems with it at speed. I bought it to play Quake X with, but I haven't had (...) (25 years ago, 25-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Probably the first step would be to monitor the data sent from the mouse to the computer. I mean, if it is decoded by the driver or some other file, and it cannot be understood, then this project would instantly turn a lot harder. (25 years ago, 26-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Through the PS/2 adapter it doesn't require any special driver. The native USB plug requires a driver in Windows 98. Cheers, Jim Andy Gombos <lego-robotics@crynwr.com> wrote in message news:3816307E.540F5E...nfi.net... (...) to the (...) it cannot (...) (25 years ago, 27-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)
