Well, all of the Technic idea books are out of print and unavailable
from shop-at-home. There are 4 different ones:
8891 - (1991) I see occasionally in auctions on rec.toys.lego
8890 - (1998) also seen occasionally on rtl auctions
8889 - (1984) rarest and most-sought-after AFAIK, was apparently
published only in Europe. I've seen it in one auction
only and it went for over $100. (!)
8888 - (1980) Oddly enough, I see this one on auctions more
than any of the others. And it is very cool.
These last two are actually called "Expert Builder Idea Books." Joe
Lauher has a good reference: http://www.chem.sunysb.edu/msl/LEGO/idea.html
as evah,
John C.
