Now that I have brought up that topic, anyone know how to drive a stepper motor w/ RCX
PWM?

It realy depends on what form of stepper motor you are using and how the coils are wired up.
if you can arange it as two sets of coils you could drive it by hooking one motor output up
to one pair of coils and the second motor output up to the other. On many small steppers (from
old floppy drives) you will get 6 wires. there are usually 4 windings in the stepper that are
joined as pairs (you can sniff this out using a multi-meter, first on ohms to determine the
pairs and then on volts to determiun the common by turning the shaft). drive the motor outputs
on and off in the following pathern and the shaft should rotate.

A    B
off  off
on   off
on   on
off  on

By the way, small steppers make very good generators at low RPM. I have built a Sterling
engine powered radio this way, it runs the radio off a candle :-)
