Hrm... if you made the start-line a different color so that 'bots could tell
if they've completed a lap, it could make for some interesting AI programming
(in LegOS... there's no way RIS or even NQC could handle this.) One could,
say, have the 'bot remember the things that it did in the last lap, and then
using that as a reference, periodically try (random) new things in the
current lap. If its lap time improved, then it would keep that lap as a
reference for the next lap. If it worsened, it would discard the attempt,
and use the same reference it used for the last lap. I realize there's a
long way to go from that informal description of the idea to an actual
workable algorithm that could be implemented, but I would imagine it would be
at least possible.
