How about:
8. Formula LEGO
- The first (autonomous) bot to complete N laps of a circuit drawn in
contrasting colors on a large area wins. Bots must remain on the
"roadway"; if they leave it, they must return to it promptly or forfeit.
Bots that become permanently entangled are designated "wrecked" and both
are removed from the area, forfeit.
I like the balance of speed vs. caution. It'd probably be best to pad the
roadway with some width of an intermediate color, especially in corners.

Hrm... if you made the start-line a different color so that 'bots could tell if they've completed a lap, it could make for some interesting AI programming (in LegOS... there's no way RIS or even NQC could handle this.) One could, say, have the (...) (26 years ago, 14-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)
