Actually I thought the decision was more of a 'wait and see' than a definite 'no
reason to'. There were quite a few very enthusiastic responses to having an NXT
group created, and three our four equally enthusiastic disagreements initially.
But what I gathered was that it was just premature to create one when the NXT
had just been announced. Personally, considering the volume of messages, I feel
that was a mistake: we should have created one right away. All non-NXT messages
have been totally drowned in the flood of excitement about the new product.
In <http://news.lugnet.com/robotics/?n=24946> Suz says, "The new group is set up
only after the need has made itself clear and proven itself significant." She
also said, "Members of the robotics community can always request one if that's
what they want, of course."
So perhaps it's time to ask this question again. Or perhaps we should wait until
the NXT is actually in people's hands. But let's have reasonable arguments one
way or another. Creating a NXT group is completely different from creating a
brick or plate group.
