Actually, you might be right about that...I really meant that you don't need
to WRITE any software to use the remote.  It hadn't occurred to me that the
firmware might be needed.  That being the case, you DO need a PC just to
download the firmware.

But yeah - the Scout has it's firmware in ROM so you definitely don't need
a PC to set it up.
