There's an Expansion Board for the Handyboard that provides 4 inputs for the
LEGO active sensors (light and rotation) on 2 lines besides 6 servo ouputs
and other good things.

It's not too difficult to cut the LEGO cables and attach the Handyboard
connectors if that's what putting you off.
