Re: Automatic Gain Control —B van Dam
Here's Anders Isaksson's anwer to the automatic gain control question. He emailed it to me directly but gave permission to post it, since I don't think many people know this: (...) No, I would say definitely not. To me it seems like the tower (...) (26 years ago, 3-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Automatic Gain Control —Laurentino Martins
(...) I'm pretty sure I can if I leave the tower near the window, although I live in an apartment and that's a tricky test. Anyway, I can control mine across the house (15/20 meters distance). Also, one thing I noticed is that the error correction (...) (26 years ago, 3-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Automatic Gain Control —Dave Baum
(...) better than the Spirit.OCX. Great work Dave!! :-) No forward error correction. Just a backoff timer and retries (not unlike TCP). Seems to work in the real world very nicely (again, not unlike TCP). Dave (26 years ago, 5-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Automatic Gain Control —Laurentino Martins
(...) I remembered once something Dave told me: AGC is unsafe if used inside NQCC. His words: ---...--- The AGC() macro is the only one to use a 5 bit selector code (0x10). For many instructions (such as tests), the selector code must be fit into 4 (...) (26 years ago, 3-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Automatic Gain Control —Ole Christian Gulbrandsen
(...) Using the AGC to meassure the distance works fine with my CM. Values returned by function AGC: 0 m: 50 - 110 1 m: 600 - 650 The values may vary a bit, but I think that the tower increases the power the further away the CM gets. -Ole -- Did you (...)         Expansion sets —S. Crawshaw
I am going to write some WWW material on expansion sets, including Dacta, spares, RIS expansion sets and normal shop sets. Firstly, does anyone out there know what is in the various Dacta sets - eg. Computer Control Models, Amusement Park etc - in (...) (26 years ago, 11-Feb-99, to lugnet.robotics)

        Re: Expansion sets —Dave Baum
(...) The amusement park set (#9725) contains 2 touch sensors, 1 light sensor, and 2 motors. Complete inventory appears below: Dave ------- Set: 9725 Pieces: 284 Count Part # Part Color 4 3004 1x2 brick Red 2 3001 2x4 brick Red 4 3040 2x1 brick, (...)         Re: Expansion sets —Jasper Janssen
(...) And nothing to glue them together? How odd. (...) Whoa! Do you actuially mean gray, or black axles? Jasper (26 years ago, 11-Feb-99, to lugnet.robotics)

        Re: Expansion sets —Dave Baum
oops....they are black (except #3 w/stud). I must've made a mistake entering them into my database. Thanks for catching it. Dave (...) (26 years ago, 12-Feb-99, to lugnet.robotics)

        Re: Expansion sets —S. Crawshaw
(...) I assume you mean the lack of RCX? 9725 is a the Dacta equivalent of RIS - but you're supposed to buy the IR tower, RCX and software separately. However, as it contains similar elements to RIS, and costs about 75 pounds (100-ish dollars) it's (...) (26 years ago, 12-Feb-99, to lugnet.robotics)

        Re: Expansion sets —Jasper Janssen
   (...) That's it, yes :) (...) Ah-ha! (...) 2* RIS + 1 * 9725 = 2 RCX with 3 motors each, and a few extra sensors too. Jasper (26 years ago, 12-Feb-99, to lugnet.robotics)
