Externally, the visual difference between the RCX in RIS 1.0 and RIS 1.5 is the
power jack (or lack thereof). The RCX in RIS 2.0 is marked "RCX 2.0", whereas
the RCX's with RIS 1.0 and 1.5 are both labeled "RCX 1.0".
Internally, the circuit boards are very different between the first two RCX's.
I do not have an RCX from RIS 2.0, so I do not know how that RCX differs from
the previous versions. Hopefully someone who has all three could take some
internal shots and maybe do some power consumption tests between the versions.
In terms of software, the 2.0 firmware works fine on the RCX's from RIS 1.0 and
1.5.

Subject: RCX Brick differences
Are there any electronic differences between the 1.0 and 2.0 RCX bricks, or
is it just the software? If the former, is there anything that would
preclude putting the 2.0 firmware on the 2.0 brick?
Thanks,
Brass

| You asked for them... here they are: (URL) remarks: - RCX1 printed circuit board is different from RCX1.5 and RCX2, but main components are almost identical, only external power supply input and associated components (rectifier and regulator) are (...)
