I've been looking at the multiple sensor input problem... wouldn't it be simpler to use a series resistor network, rather than parallel, something like this: --|--[ 10 ohm ]--|--[ 20 ohm ]--|--[ 40 ohm ]--|--[ 80 ohm ]--|-- | | | | | (...) (26 years ago, 29-Dec-98, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Thanks, I didn't think of that. Since it is a linear function to convert the measured resistance to the switch values, this is much faster and also has better spacing between the values. The lego touch sensors are not simple on/off switches like you guys show. There is at least 500 ohms in series with them when they are closed. They also seem to be slightly touch sensitive. A light touch will read 1.5K while a hard push is close to (...) (26 years ago, 30-Dec-98, to lugnet.robotics)

This design would prevent multiple switch detection. Only one switch would be detectable (the last one). The designs people have been creating so far have been capable of detecting 3-4 discrete inputs at any time regardless of the settings of any (...) (26 years ago, 30-Dec-98, to lugnet.robotics)

Duh. I didn't notice that the switches were in parallel with the resistors. Dang proportional fonts in email. Sorry about that. I was thinking about making a passive light sensor with 2 Csd components mounted at slightly off parallel ( diverging ) and use the Light Sensor Type to read the left, then switch it to Touch Type to read the right element. I wonder if the same approach that has been found for touch sensors may apply here to. That is can the Csd Sensors be connected is parrallel to a couple or three series resisters. Then when light hits the left sensor it generates a number and when (...) (26 years ago, 31-Dec-98, to lugnet.robotics)
