I use the VERY large size of hard plastic (not cloth) Flambeau tackle boxes
that come with multiple removable trays (four large tray slide in the front
and the top inside takes up to six small organizer trays. It takes about
one large box per two robots and accessory sets. For eight RIS sets, plus
eight RoboSports sets, a Vision Command, an Ultimate Accessory set, plus
lots of extra parts, including 16 extra motors, 9 battery boxes, tons of
extra sensors, etc., I use four of the large Flambeaus. I think they're
called top-loaders or Front Loaders or something. They come from Walmart
and cost $29-$37 each. You can buy extra trays to really fill them up.
They come with 3 small trays and 1 deep and 2 shallow large trays or 3 small
trays and 4 shallow large trays.
Makes it great sorting parts down or having them all out for inspection
while building and then they disappear into the tackle boxes until the next
class. Each part is in its own compartment. No parts are mixed and each
RCX has its own compartment.
I chose the Flambeau because of the extra tray storage compared to the Plano
tackle boxes our Walmarts had at the time. If there had been more Plano
styles, I may have chosen that brand. Of course, the wall system is
sounding attractive now and if I'd known how far this was going to go I
might have done that. As it is, I use the tackle boxes and folding work
tables from Sam's and the entire lot can disappear in a matter of a few
minutes.
