That's exactly what it did last time, got down to -3 or -4 days and was then
reset to +5 days. I did watch the last few minutes of the countdown last
time (was late afternoon here in Aus, IIRC), and kept checking back every
day at my almost 7 year old son's insistence. He was terribly disappointed,
I was merely annoyed that I'd wasted the effort :) Didn't bother this time,
can't say I'm surprised.
See http://news.lugnet.com/general/?n=36945 and followups.
At least the "biometric" code is a bit of fun for the kids, as long as they
know the keyboard shortcuts for cut and paste (bit of a design flaw there
Lego folks).
Having seen the pics and blurb for the spybotics sets, I'm hoping these
might bridge the gap for a kid who is very eager to play with Mindstorms but
lacks the skills to program it. (Giving him a preprogrammed Mindstorms
robot and the remote control wore thin very quickly).
Deidre (AFOL and Mum to a ~7 y.o. who wants to be a teenager so he can "do
Mindstorms and learn to drive" but not an adult "because they die". Yes, I
did point out that I was very much alive along with everyone else!)
