I just received my Mindstorms kit and I am very excited about the

legOS to do my programming.

4 more days until I get to open mine!  Woohooo!!!!

What I am having difficulty with is finding parts, particularly gears.  Is
there a way to purchase a number of gears individually or in packages?  I
looked at buying complete sets, but that seems an expensive way to go.
Lego Dacta has spare parts listed for blocks, but not gears.

Shop @ Home will do ya.

  #5229 Gears & Differentials  23 pieces $4.50
  #5294 Toggle Joints & Connectors 60 pieces $4.50
  #5277 Pulleys & Rubber Belts 12 pieces $4.00
  #5295 Steering Accessories 12 pieces $4.00

Check out http://www.lugnet.com/ and do a "Set Search" on those part
numbers to see a picture of what they come with.

  Hope this helps!
