While waiting for my RIS 2.0 upgrade (which Lego say is now in the mail to
me) I decided to buy a USB tower and the Robolab 2.5 upgrade from Dacta. The
new Robolab version is a really impressive piece of software. It's nice to
have a single program that can handle the RCX, Scout, Lego Camera (the
camera can be used as a sensor) and Control Lab (Lego Interface B). Tonight
I used the RCX with the USB tower and Control Lab connected to COM1. Much to
my surprise I found I could run a data collection program on the RCX and
then simply change the program to point to Control Lab and it reran with no
problems without having to exit RoboLab. The new context help and
auto-wiring features are also especially useful. The Robolab 2.5 upgrade is
really good value for money. It's a shame Lego doesn't keep the Robolab
section of it's Web site up to date.
